About the Event

Why tap and die??!

Soldering or welding are the standard approaches to joining two metals. However, using heat destroys the temper of the metals and removes patiently applied patinas. Plastics, wood, and delicate found objects cannot be heated.

By creating threaded holes in one metal object, the possibilities of what can embellish a design are multiplied. Using purchased micro fasteners- screws, washers, and nuts the process is streamlined.

Jan uses threaded connections in her jewelry scale designs and larger sculptural work.

This is a workshop for someone with soldering, sawing, and general metalworking skills.

Feel free to view the workshop and determine what might be helpful to your practice before spending money on specific tools and materials.
